Ride report by Simeon Orme It was pity that I was only person who turn up to start of ride at Catch-23, as it was my last ride that I  was leading on behalf of South Lakes Group and anyway you tend to get use this sort of ride where you only person on the ride, it usually happens to me a few times each year over past twenty years that I have been leading South Lakes Group rides. Anyway once I’ve got my cake fix for the week and had coffee, I got back on bike and head along Kellet Lane towards Tewitfield, I soon got off the tarmac and head along the canal towpath, stopping part along it to look at information board about the extending of the canal back up to Kendal, I continue along the towpath before following the bridleway under the M6 and then through the fields to the A6. After crossing over the A6, I followed the lanes through Yealand Conyers and Yealand Redmayne, then turn on to next track which was the bridleway and permitted bridleway from Nineteen Acre Lane which runs along Thang Moss and White Moss, which nice and quite at most times of the year. I was soon back on the tarmac again and followed the lanes around to Carr Bank and on the climb up to Four Lanes End in Storth, I heard a noise coming from my back wheel, it was spoke that had broken, after removing the broken spoke, I decided cut ride short and to head to Beetham for lunch, stopping by the stocks in the village for lunch. After lunch, I followed the road up to Slack Head and then followed the lanes down to and cross Hale Moss where I cross over the A6. Then followed the lanes across Burton Moss and around to Cinderbarrow and after crossing over the Lancaster Canal via Saltermire Bridge, I drop down to the A 6070 for small section on this road before following the lanes through Priest Hutton and Borwick before heading back along Kellet Lane to Catch- 23. From Catch-23, I rode home to Halton. There were a lot cyclists out and about it just a pity none of them were RSF members You can click here to see the photos of 12th October ride to Dentdale or you can checkout the What’s New Page to see what’s new on the site and you can also sign up for site’s free weekly newsletter
