Ride report by Simeon Orme It was one of those days where I should paid closer attention to the weather forcast, it was not help by fact that it was bit to dangerous to use my to van to get to start of the ride due to it leaking brake fluid, so I had to ride up to start of South Lakes Group ride was in Tebay. I set off around 7.30am, following my usual route up to Kirkby Lonsdale along the Kirkby Lonsdale Road out of Halton and the B 6254 up to Kirkby Lonsdale which took me about hour to do. I then headed through Kirkby Lonsdale keeping on the B 6254 until I got to Kearstwick, where I turn off the B 6254 to followed the lanes up the Lune Valley, it was all going well until I had to stop to put waterproof on near Fleshbeck, at this point I should have turn around and headed back home because the day when downhill and heavens open but I press on following the lanes up to Killington New Bridge where I join the B 6256 which I followed up to the Black Horse before short section on the A 684 before turn on to B6257 which I followed through Firbank and Lowgill before the big climb of the day up side of Dillicar Knott which end up walking most of it due to weather conditions, once I got to the A685 it fairly easily ride into Tebay and getting there around 10.30am. There was no one waiting for me in the Tearoom in the Old School where the ride was starting from so I order beans on toast before deciding to head for home after my refuelling stop as the weather conditions had not improve. So I headed back down the A685, then turn off it to follow the lanes through Low Borrowbridge, then along the Fairmile Road which turns into Howgill Lane before following Slacks Lane down to the A684 which I then followed back over to the other side of the Lune Valley, once I got to Black Horse retrace my morning route back to Kirkby Lonsdale where I stop another refuelling stop at the Cariad Coffee House before heading for home, It had been one wettest days cycling I have had for sometime.
